Natural gas has become a strategic asset for Israel, transforming the country into an emerging energy power in the region. With major discoveries in the Leviathan and Tamar fields, Israel has entered energy partnerships with Egypt, Jordan, and the EU. However, gas also introduces new security challenges, including the need to protect offshore infrastructure, respond to regional competition, and ensure maritime security in contested waters. Energy security is now an integral part of Israel’s national strategy.
