אלוף (מיל') יעקב עמידרור

עמית בכיר ע"ש אן וגרג רוסהנדלר במכון ירושלים לאסטרטגיה ולביטחון.

האלוף עמידרור (יליד 1948) שימש כיועץ לביטחון לאומי לראש הממשלה נתניהו וראש המטה לביטחון לאומי (אפריל 2011-נובמבר 2013). שירת 36 שנה בתפקידים בכירים בצה"ל (1966-2002), כמפקד המכללות הצבאיות (הכוללות את המכללה לביטחון לאומי, המכללה הבין-זרועית לפיקוד ולמטה  והמכללה לפיקוד טקטי), מזכיר צבאי לשר הביטחון, ראש חטיבת המחקר באמ"ן, ביצוע פרויקט טכנולוגי גדול, קצין המודיעין של פיקוד צפון, ורמ״ח בקרה של אמ״ן (איפכא מסתברא). הוא משמש גם עמית בכיר במרכז ג'מנדר של JINSA. כתב שני ספרים: הרהורים על צבא וביטחון (2002), ו-מודיעין, הלכה למעשה(2006), ומונוגרפיה באנגלית ניצחון במלחמה נגד טרור: המקרה הישראלי (JCPA, 2008). ב-2017 עמד בראש ועדה שמינה רוה״מ לבדיקת עבודת הקבינט הביטחוני, והמלצותיה אומצו על ידי הממשלה.

Israel’s opposition to Iranian entrenchment in Syria and Lebanon is twofold: To prevent Iran from building a beachhead against Israel through its proxies on Israel’s borders, and to impede development of Iran’s nuclear and long-range missile capabilities. Israel is absolutely determined and prepared to act forcefully against Iran, which could lead to a full-scale war. Israel must win this struggle against Iran, one way or another.

Israel would prefer not to go to war with Hamas over kite terrorism but Gaza's rulers should not confuse that with apprehension. The simple fact is that clear priorities must be set and Israel must decide which of the threats it faces is truly urgent.
