The Urgent Need for a Decisive Outcome in Gaza Requires Planning for "The Day After"

Given growing international pressure and the urgent need for a decisive outcome against Hamas in Gaza, it is now imperative for Israel to engage in planning for a "different future" there—preferably through the creation of a Multinational Authority (MNA) to oversee a long transitional period. Neither permanent Israeli rule—as distinct from security responsibilities— nor the unlikely prospect of depopulating Gaza offer a realistic solution to the challenges at hand.
